commentsVerbal Kint Minneapolis -- 2002-01-07 I like this Picture, It Brings Back memories of my droogs and I back in the day Debi Detroit,Mi -- 2002-03-12 Great picture! I used to go to Hard Times after a long night at KFAI, the public supported radio station across the street. They have the best cookies and wonderful cappicinos. I miss living in Minne-wood! Tom G (OT) Iowa City (temporary exile) -- 2002-06-30 Get ready. The Hard Times turns 10 this November. Bike advocate Vadnais Heights -- 2002-10-19 This is an awsome pic and it seems the place to be for meeting other bike enthusiasts like my self for the midnight mass. And oh yeah..... buffalo tom hollywood CA -- 2002-10-29 This picture rules. I spent years at this place and I'll never forget how much fun I had. Also this pic documents that the space on the right with the fence used to have a wall...spent a lot of time sitting on that wall and leaning on that fence, cuttin' it up JR West Michigan -- 2003-09-25 Wow!! I was telling my friend he has to go to this place when he goes to Minnieapolis next. Hey what is the name of the bar around the corner? I can't remember anymore. Ken -- 2003-10-13 I have been trying to locate John Mitchel who used to work at Durable goods across the street. He had a wind electric generator on the roof. Robalobbadingdong cardboardbox -- 2003-10-15 I just got off work at the hard times, cooking till midnight. People were hungry for a lot of Quesadillas and nachos tonight. Hey, the cafe is open until four in the morning every night now! Come on down! Tony Raven Santa Fe -- 2003-12-11 Thanks for this photo! A place here shut down 3 yrs ago, called Dana's After Dark -- a lot like HTC but with funkier interior paint (yes, it's possible). City harassed 'em for (ready?) letting cold runaways warm up after curfew, giving 'em food & clothing, etc. Deja vu, man... jen boston -- 2004-01-16 surfing online, and saw this site...remembered coming to this place to play chess, have some of the best grilled sandwhiches, and chill all night long. loved this place. living in boston now, but it was cool to go to that place during some of riverside's coolest festivals...this is the best photo...captures a lot of the creativity that went into the art on the outside of this building. Miki Minneapolis -- 2004-10-25 Hard Times is celebrating it's 12th birthday! All former workers + one invited for dinner at 7:30pm at the cafe. Please RSVP cause we need to know how much to cook. You can email us at hard_X_cafe@hotmail.com. All patrons and friends invited to celebrate with us at 10pm. Thanks! See you there! Paul Toronto -- 2005-02-01 .. it's really a longshot.. but, my dear friend Joyce worked there I think in the early '90's... through some unfortunate mishaps, I never was able to make my way down to Minni... How wonderful it would be to hear from her again :-) Joyce Minneapolis -- 2005-07-27 Wow, what a cool site!!! Paul, please e-mail me and let me know what's up. Although I have never officially worked at the Hard Times, I've helped out somewhat over the years, and kept them in business with the amount of Iced coffee I consume. donny augsburg -- 2005-10-18 i'm going here in 10 minutes to study for a mid-term. get the biscuits and gravy or the falafel (sp?) platter. Stephen Spaise Twin Cities -- 2005-11-17 HTC turns 13 tonight, party is still probably going. AMG Boston -- 2006-12-03 Ahh memories...
