Originally named Glenwood Park, it was
renamed in honor of Minneapolis Park Board
chairman Theodore Wirth. It's easily the
largest park in Minneapolis, although some of
it falls inside Golden Valley(on my Hudson map, anyway).
It's got lots of water, including
Brownie Lake, Bassett Creek, and several
ponds. It has a public golf course, and
a challet for sledders in winter.
The park is about a half-mile wide by 2-1/2
miles long, with a parkway running
through it. It's a popular site for outdoor
weddings; the Eloise Butler Wildflower
Garden is located there.
