description
This is another shot of the old Pillsbury "A" mill. The tunnel going into the river bank and under the mill is called a tail race. This is where the water powering the mill exiting after turning a turbine. This was the mills source of power until 1955. It's walled off now.

commentsAnonymous -- 2006-04-29 There is still access to the tunnel, this is one of Mpls's lost treasures,,you have to see it inside to believe it. It is under what is now Main Street. Part of it is collapsed inside. HUGE timbers were used for tunnel supports when it was built in the 1800's. Post a comment on this picture | |
