description
Non-residents might recognize this building from Prince's film Purple Rain. This nightclub is still around, booking live touring acts and featuring local talent.
I came to First Avenue to show a French woman I met through this site. She emailed me from Spain, but we met in person after she arrived. I don't normally try to take night shots, I had ISO 800 film in my camera at the time. My back was to the Target Center and I'm looking down 7th street. links
commentsCJ Minneapolis -- 2000-09-05 I think the last time that I got carded at a bar was at 1st Av. It was way back when I was 43. I didn't Have my ID with me. When I told them that I had dyed my beard grey just so that they would let me in, they let me in. Deborah Davis -- 2000-09-10 ALL these photos are great! I LOVE the city of Minneapolis. You have captured all the sites I remember on trips in such a captivating way. I have wonderful memories of trips to Twin Cities and this whole site takes me back to them.
Laura Lewis Warrenton, Virginia -- 2002-11-07 Love your photo! I worked here in 1970-71 when the club first opened as The Depot, and Joe Cocker, B.B. King, Eric Clapton, Ike & Tina Turner and other greats performed there. Marissa -- 2006-03-07 I think this is a very unbelievable picture it really shows alot of what the city is and wht it looks like good job!! Post a comment on this picture | |
