This is a parking lot in downtown Minneapolis on 10th and Marquette. Minneapolis has a large Somali community; this is the style of dress that most Somali women here wear (a Hijaab).
commentsTina Martinez Minneapolis -- 2002-08-29 I think its neat how Minneapolis has so many different kinds of people. You can learn alot. It makes it interesting. In my opinion. Miski T.O -- 2002-11-17 shes beautiful....go girl sofia hassan Owatona, MN -- 2002-11-23
Tekle Sweden -- 2003-02-12 Yes I have very great respect to any boby who keep his cultuer and religion. It does't matter were you come from or which colour of race you're.I really give great respect for Somali comunity here in Sweden. They are proud to be African and Somali Muslim.About the Hijab I really respect a woman who wears it,why I say this because they are strong, proud and trusted thats why I like the Somali Comunity.Always people sterio type about Hijab, that woman are forced to wear it.But most woman here in Sweden they wear it for themself and they like it.I never meet a woman who told me that she was forced to wear it.I just want to say keep on and be strong don't care what people say and sterio type about Hijab. There are people there who like to sterio type about Islam. They don't know any thing about Islam. abdillahi uk -- 2003-05-24 aslamu caleykum . deny Western culture? Americans been made to feel uncomfortable about Christmas
and told that any display of Christian faith is offensive to people of other
faiths. Why then, is this religious display such a beautiful thing? If there are
to be no Christian symbols in public places (such as schools) during the holiday
season, why then, can the hijab be worn in our schools? Where is the respect for
Western culture and tradition? I'll tell you... it's be swept under the carpet
in the name of diversity. Where is the diversity in that? I have serious
concerns about any group of people (many of whom live on public assistance
provided by taxpaying Christians) who expect tolerance, but don't see it as a
two-way street. If so many Somali's feel their way of life is so superior to the
Western way of life? Why have so many come here? Why not stay in Somalia and
work to solve its problems instead of coming here and being critical of the very
people who paid their ticket to get here? So, go ahead, wear your hijab, just
don't forget the fact that you are no longer Somalis, you are American
Somalis. Sahro Ahmed Leiden,Holland -- 2007-08-04 I found this site by accident. I am very happy i have found it.
