This May Pole is on the north side of the festival grounds. The dancers pictured perform a may pole dance here on a set schedule. The Piccolo Pony ride is in the background.

Can anyone give advice about beginning a May Pole dance tradition as part of a high school chorus concert/ice cream social?

What a surprise to see this picture! I'm the drummer at the far right. This was a magical moment for all, dancers and musicians, celebrating the interweaving and renewing of all life... a rennaisance indeed! Thanks.
