The Forbidden City, or Gu Gong in Chinese, is located in the heart of Beijing, China. It is the imperial palace and the center of power of the royal Ming and Qing dynasties. Now called the Palace Museum, it was declared by the UNESCO as a World Heritage Site in 1987.
