description

This is in the Santa Mesa area of western Manila, the Philippines. Most railroad tracks are closely surrounded by neighborhoods, like here. The train passes within two to five feet of people's back doors. Residents use the tracks for cooking, laundry, and playing pool; they clear away briefly when a train comes, then immediately return.
