This is the Washburn Water Tower, on Prospect Avenue in south Minneapolis.
commentsmarshall memphis -- 2007-12-01 This tower is on the top of a hill at about 50th and Grand, on or near what was a final approach or glide path to Wold Chamberlin airport, now renamed MSP International. The importance of this is that it is a aerial navagitation hazard, and shows prominently on the maps pilots use. In the 1950's an airplane hit the tower and crashed into a house near Minnehaha Parkway. The authorities searched for a long time for missing parts of the plane, finally finding them near this water tower. Post a comment on this pictureThis page last modified:2004-04-09 | |
