I am originally from Minneapolis. It is a lovely city--a snowy Singapore. Phillip Johnson's IDS Tower is an unrivalled contemporary landmark for the city. The Wells Fargo Building should have more bulk and height to it. It is too sleek and is diminished by the other two buildings of the same height. The original taller design, which was rejected by Norwest Bank, was built in Cleveland instead and is over nine-hundred feet tall.
The three tallest buildings in Minneapolis vary in height to within a few feet of each other--776-778 feet, considerably shorter than the tallest buildings in many other American cities like Houston, Seattle, Boston, Cleveland, Atlanta, Dallas, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Chicago, and soon Denver.
Perhaps a tower over a thousand feet is in order to give the skyline its crown.
