You are on Lake Street near 15th Avenue, looking north. This is the Heart of the Beast Puppet and Mask Theater. They put on puppet shows in this theater, and organize the annual May Day Parade and festival. There are photos of this festival on this site in the festivals category.

In the 1940's the top of the tower in the picure rotated. Also, I heard at the time that the women's restroom had a bidet. My earliest memory of the theater was when "Gone with the Wind" showed there, long before the era of x-rated films.
