description

This is a close-up of the water tower in the previous picture, known as the Witch's Hat. It's not in use anymore, but has been preserved by the neighborhood. It is open to visitors once each year during the Pratt Ice Cream Social, held in June each year.

In the winter time my dad used to slide down the back side of the hill towards University Ave. It was always a challenge to get stop before the road way. If you managed not to hit any trees while flying down the hill. Gald to see it still stands.
I saw it once in the mid-seventies while on visit in the Twin Cities. It really caught my EYE!!!

I used to drive from St. Paul to downtown Minneapolis every day & recall seeing what I know now is the "Witch's Hat" as I drove on 94. I always wondered about it. Happy to hear that there are stories behind it!

Many people are not aware that the Prospect Park Witch's Hat was the inspiration for Bob Dylan's song "All Along the Watchtower" which he could see everyday when he lived in Dinkytown.

I grew up down the hill from the Witches Tower. Going there brought me much peace and fun as a child, and now I bring my own children there. I love this place!
