description

This is in the pheresis center at UCLA. My brother is being "pheresed" (pronounced like fer'east), which is similar to dialysis, except that the purpose is to collect stem cells. A central line catheter is being used.

2 million cells were needed, which required about 4 sessions to collect. Neupogen was being given to stimulate stem cell production. These cells would be given back to my brother after he received high-dose chemo for his lymphoma.
