description

You are standing on 45th Street at York Avenue South, looking southwest. I took this picture because I thought the house on the corner looked interesting. I don't know the name of that style, but I like a diversity of homes.

Boy, I saw this photo and I immediately got homesick. I used to live the next street over on Zenith for a number of years, until two years ago when I moved to Chile. I really miss the old neighborhood and the snowy winters. I even miss having to shovel my driveway!!!

That's my old neighborhood! I drove past that house many times on my way back and forth to work and other destinations. Lived on Zenith Avenue, toward 46 street for 15 years, until I transferred to IL. Grew up on 44th and Vincent, so this is old home for me! Unlike Sharon, I don't miss shoveling the snow. Here, the snow pretty much melts from the sidewalk the next day (unless we get a "snowstorm [6 inches]").

Just a note on the style...
It is a "Tudor" style home named after the great King of England. The reason it came to be was when war broke out in Europe, wood was a precious material needed for ship building, thus causing a shortage of wood for building homes. This was a resourceful method of using less wood! A beautiful style indeed!
